Enchanting Trip Of A Kriya Yoga Teacher
Acharya From Delhi To The Himalayas
If I recollect properly it was March 2006 that we began adventures Himalayan trip from Delhi. We boarded the buses from New Delhi, a very mixed group of disciples – Americans, Germans and Indians all set to enjoy the bliss of our Gurus company and learn and meditate and be free of the daily mundane of life.
Thus the bus journey was a bit tiring but there was an air of joyful expectancy!
As a Kriya Yoga Teacher Acharya From Delhi, I found Delhi was warm — don’t remember the exact degree as there has been a lot of global warming since then as of now as I blog!
As we headed towards Rishikesh, it cooled down and the excitement of the the dream mountains crept on us! We could feel the whiff of the ancient sages’, ascetics, and Yogis meditating and following the Holy River Ganga and we all felt the vibrant pull as the city pulsated with its positivity and memories.
The Swami Shivanand Society and the Transcendental Meditation Centre of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi and his 84 modern architectural caves constructed was indeed fascinating as we bypassed them.
So, all of us were gripped in a mystical wave ( I guess our beloved Guru had a lot to do with it), we could smell the pure air, the mountains had a calling, honestly we were really privileged as we could feel that all Spiritual Guides were beckoning us atop these roads that we’d curved around!
After 8 hours of journey time, we settled in the Ganga tourist resort and not to be daunted after the long journey, we all jaunted off to the local bazaars to shop at these colourful little kiosks — the disciples were in awe of these sights and they filled up their bags with malas and rudrakshs.
Rishikesh lies at the junction of 3 districts of Uttarakhand — Garhwal, Tehri and Dehradun.
Some of us visited the two suspension bridges the Lakshman Jhula (450ft) and the Ram Jhula (4 km long) built over the Ganga River.
Then the most interesting part was the Arti offered To River Ganga led by our Satguru on the Ghats of the Parmath Niketan and right opposite at the Triveni Ghats before sunset, the Germans were awed by this sight and their sincerity was on their faces clearly — A Spiritual Awakening of a kind with the school kids and locals singing and chanting mantras as offerings to Mother Ganga.
After dinner, at the resort the boys managed a bonfire and we all started chanting singing mantras. We sat late into the night with Satguru Yogiraj Siddhanath wrapped up in shawls and blankets as it had become cold, with a clear sky with stars glittering like diamonds — oh it is fabulous to be back into that glorious moment!
I, as a Kriya Yoga Teacher Acharya staying in South Delhi appreciate Delhi Life. But to be there in the lap of Himalayas with my Kriya Yoga Guru was truly amazing, no words can describe the feeling. All 60 of us were ever so peaceful, no stiffness, no issue of life, except we were with Gurunath — that was the world — we were lost in our Kriya Yoga till the wee hours of the morning — to bed and to continuing travel…
More of our trip in my next blog!
Shaba kher!
