Kriya Yoga And Our Himalayan Trip To Okhimat

Moving towards the last leg of our trip from the Kund – our base camp to Okhimat was the highlight of our trip.

We got into our respected buses with a lot of excitement as we were really looking forward to visit the Okhimat or Ukhimat temple, the winter resting place of Lord Shiva also called Lord Kedarnath. Since it was, March we could have a glimpse of the Statue, as May onwards the pilgrims could have a darshan of him again at Kedarnath, as it remained open for 6 months in Kedarnath and 6 months in Okhimat (This is the place where the Pooja is performed for 6 months while the Kedarnath Shrine is closed). Well I guess Gods also feel cold since it snows heavily in Kedarnath which is only about 40 km uphill from Okhimat.

We reached the temple after about 3hrs and 30 minutes traveling uphill passing again the scenic Oak and Coniferous forests with streams flowing. Time stood still. We were being spiritually healed all along the way, all faces had a glow and we were being transported in time back and we all felt as though we are in complete merge with the Lord of the Universe!

We all had a fantastic view and glimpses of the range of the mountains of the Nanda Devi, Mana Par, Neel Kant and Chowkhambha and Komet

As Rumi says, “In truth everything and everyone is a shadow of the Beloved, and our seeking is His seeking”— so His grace always is with us!

We reached the small quaint hilly village of Okhimat – the houses of the locals were in different colors comic style! This was about an elevation of 1311 meters.

The evening Aarti was a couple of hours away so we went around the temple premises and we were related the history of the temple priest who had come down with the Statue of the Mahandatta (Lord Shiva).

In the temple we were privileged to see the stone fire place where Usha and Anirudh got married  which as the story of the temple goes — Usha, daughter of the demon Vanasur of the solar dynasty (no coincidence as we did the Siddhanath Surya Kriya everyday) married Anirudh Krishna’s grandson. We all felt a Chakra Cleansing at that moment and were temporarily uplifted. Sam and Brett had a wondrous look in their eyes!

So then, Usha, had a vision of Anirudh  in her dreams and requested her artist friend Chitralekha recreate his image thus the two were united in holy wedlock at this very place with the fire ceremony. Math means Father’s home which was Usha’s abode.

The evening Aarti in front of The Mahandatta’s statue was performed in great aplomb by the head priest in Gurunath’s (my Kriya Guru) honour and he did the rituals and we all went into Chakra Meditative state and felt an all Chakra healing with all colours – all of us had different experiences — in our Solar Plexuses, Heart Chakra, Ajna Chakra, Throat Chakra and Sahasrara Chakras, a kind of explosion of explosion of Energy, cannot really explain!

We again ate at the local Dhaba as here in the hills folks eat and retire early and rise at the crack of dawn, they follow the rhythm of nature and the little kids and the folks have an amazingly healthy and adorable look!

Next day from the Kund camp, before our journey back we stopped at Duggal Bittha a hilly grassy mountain facing the mountains, clouds and the sun. We all sat individually separately on our asanas and meditated on The Babaji Kundalini Kriya Yoga for about an hour – we also felt the clouds looked like Shiva and our beloved Kriya Guru Gurunath.

We then had Chai at Chopta. At Chamoli we did a fun ice throwing since there were still some snow here and there!

So then all good things come to an end and the next day we headed back after our unforgettable heavenly trip.

Subsequently we did this Himalayan trip till the landslides happened and these days perhaps it’s safer till Rishikesh but these Himalayan trips have been etched in our brains and settled in our DNA and RNA.

May you all be blessed and Spiritually guided like us always

Love and Light
